Many people were disappointed about not being able to get into the Gurf Morlix show. The bottom line is, buy tickets for our “Private Party Series” shows in advance. Every PPS show has SOLD OUT!. Joyryde makes their first appearance @ the tavern on Sunday Jan. 4. They will be bringing the hitmen horns with them! Show starts @ 4pm. FREE!

The Lustre Kings enlist Johnny Rabb and Eddie Angel
to hail The King!


The King is gone but he’s not forgotten. Elvis Presley would have turned 74 in January 2009, but his music remains as timeless as ever. In tribute, The Elvis Birthday Bash Band is once again hitting the road for a string of performances designed to delight every Elvis fan, young and old alike.

The all-star combo is anchored by Mark Gamsjager and The Lustre Kings and rounded out by Johnny Rabb and Eddie Angel, with additional special guests scheduled for select dates.

The Lustre Kings – who have also accompanied Wanda Jackson, Bill Kirchen and Robert Gordon -- are among the nation’s premiere roots rock acts, with fans from coast to coast and a regular touring schedule that takes them from New York to Austin and from Seattle to New Orleans. Critically-hailed guitarist Deke Dickerson says, “Like a fine wine, the Lustre Kings just get better with each passing year.”

Johnny Rabb might have been Elvis if The King hadn’t beaten him to the punch. Rabb’s onstage intensity is undeniable and he gives well over one hundred percent whether wailing with his band in an upstate barroom or shaking it onstage in Europe with the wild and woolly Neanderthals.

Eddie Angel has paired up with Rabb many times over the years in outfits ranging from the Rockin’ Dakotas to the Neanderthals. These days the legendary guitarist wows audiences all over the world with the Grammy-nominated Los Straitjackets, while also making time for recording work and appearances with a variety of acts, from his own Planet Rockers to Ian and the Aztecs.

A native of Los Angeles, he started his career at an early age listening and singing along to his parents’ recordings of Hank Williams, Sr., Dean Martin, Lefty Frizzell, and Elvis. By high school, he was playing in cover bands and was soon a regular sitting in with the house band at the legendary Palomino Club.

Initially, Intveld worked with his younger brother Ricky and friend Pat Woodward in a band known as the Rockin’ Shadows. The group dissolved when Ricky and Woodward left to work with Rick Nelson’s Stone Canyon Band; both later died in the same airplane accident that took the life of Nelson. It was only fate that kept James from getting on that flight. It’s a tragedy that cut, and still cuts deeply into his heart and soul.

During the cow punk movement of the ’80s, Intveld was working the same clubs as Dwight Yoakam and Rosie Flores, playing his own brand of rockabilly. He so impressed Town South of Bakersfield producers
Pete Anderson and Dusty Wakeman that he was included on the second volume of the compilation series.

As a multi-instrumentalist singer, songwriter and sideman, James’ name seems to crop up everywhere. He’s in high demand for his skills as a player; as adept at the slap bass, slide, steel, and drums as on guitar. He’s done everything from playing bass with Dwight Yoakam to lead guitar with the Blasters.

Intveld wrote the Rosie Flores hit “Cryin’ Over You” as well as all the material on his own first 1996 effort “James Intveld.

Sat. 1/18 Gamalon celebrates their 27th. anniversary along with Ted’s birthday, show starts @ 6pm.

 Pine Dogs will be at the Sportsmen's Tavern, on Saturday January 24, 2009. This show is part of the club's great Private Party series of events. Tickets are available at the club, and from band members. Every Private Party show has been a sell-out so far, so be sure to get your tickets early!
